June meeting

This month's meeting was well attended and thanks to the earlier start we managed to combine admiring Geoff's scripting skills and erudition in some obscure fields of knowledge with a good deal of focused business.

We have chosen education as the focus for our ISFD effort.

The aim is to offer some kind of presentation to staff and students at primary and secondary levels, at some suitable time around ISFD itself. Some members have already taken on the task of initial approaches to some local schools. Keep up to date via the PiratePad;

June Meeting - 22nd June

Hi

Noticed I had been not keeping the website up to date with our events - so must try harder ! We always hold monthly meetings, on the 4th Wednesday of the month and usually at the Point 4 http://www.hlug.org.uk/node/4 in Hereford opposite the RNC buildings.

This month we will be starting to gear up our efforts for our Software Freedom Day Event coming in September again to be held in central Hereford at All Saints Church.

If you want to help out, please come along to our June meeting.

April HLUG Meeting - Weds 20 April 2011

HLUG's April meeting will this month be on the 3rd Wednesday - the 20th April to avoid the Easter holiday period when members may be away. So join us if you can - usual time 7:30pm at The Point 4 Hereford

Display images

It occurred to me that other people may want to use the content of the display panels. You may wish to print them and put up in your public access computer area - or IT department :-)

The four files are in pdf format A1 size saved as 150 dpi images, and print OK at that resolution.If you want a sharper version email me through hlug. Note also that they will print OK at smaller sizes but it's a bit hard to read at A4!

March meeting/OSDay evaluation

HLUG Open Source Day

Evaluation Meeting.

The final Wednesday of March saw us meet, once again at swish point4 venue, mainly to evaluate our performance on Open Source Day the previous Saturday. Ten members attended the meeting, so as usual there was a background murmour of geek behaviour, configuring laptops mostly! as well as focused and more ad hoc discussions. For these reasons, these notes are offered as indicative only, as I must have missed many nuances of the various conversations.

Good things;
The high turn out of HLUG members, and their stamina to last the day.

Open Source Day - watch the video

Well I think I have recovered from Saturday - I was too busy to hear Dr Wright speak as Tim and I were holding the fort and talking to stray visitors but thanks to Paul I watched the whole thing online including the presentations.

March HLUG Meeting - date moved to 30 March 2011

Normally we would have our monthly LUG meeting on the 4th Weds of the month, but as we expect to get a few more interested parties joining us following our Herefordshire Open Source Day event, we have changed the meeting date to the week afterwards instead.
So the March HLUG meeting will be on the 30th March - meeting place as usual is at the the Point 4 in Hereford.
30th March 2011 is Document Freedom Day

We are putting them up around the county - so if you can help please print one off and help us to get the word out.
