Herefordshire Linux and Open Source User Group

I haven't had time to report on our recent meetings, but pleased to see we are getting higher numbers coming along. Cookies in Leominster, our main venue these days is proving popular, and again thanks go to Matthew shop/gallery/net cafe owner and LUG member for hosting us and making us feel welcome !

We had our annual Christmas social event, a meal at the Jalalabad Indian restaurant in Leominster recently. Last year only two members turned up for the Christmas bash, so I was wondering whether to give it a miss this year. But a change in venue and location Leominster instead of Hereford, and Indian instead of an English pub, drew all of 7 of us for a good night out.

Not sure why we seem to be getting more members come along when we have Leominster meetings. Being in the north of the county rather than central like Hereford it surprises me, but we seem to have few South of the county members compared to Central and North Herefordshire ones.

We will keep having some meetings in Hereford, and want to keep to regular meeting nights, (usually 3rd Wednesday on the month), to help people pencil it in to the plans.

All discussions and meetings are always posted at least twice to give everyone a bit of a gentle reminder ! We are a very diverse, friendly, approachable and interesting bunch, but all with an interest of Open Source and Linux.
